As a reminder, this is part of the first of 3 sets:
H1 - The Hobbit (300 cards, 110C 100U 90R)
H2 - The Battle of the Five Armies (200 cards, 70C 70U 60R)
H3 - The White Council (200 cards, 70C 70U 60R)
And it’s more or less complete, I just need the approval of the talented DCers of the cobracards forum!
Here is a (very brief) summary of the block mechanics featured in the first set:
Terror X (Each time this character is assigned to skirmish an opponent’s character, they may make that opponent exert X of their characters.)
Winged (This character can only take 1 wound per phase, regardless of its source.)
Locked - (A card that is Locked has blank game text, unless it is Unlocked. An ability or keyword that is Locked is nonexistent unless it is Unlocked.)
Unlocked - (A card can only be Unlocked if a card allows it to be. A card with no Locked text cannot be Unlocked.)
A seriously detailed description of the last two can be found at this link: http://lotrtcgdb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=4434 (below the cards)
Here’s the culture break down, and clicking on finished cultures will take you to their card lists.

"Gandalf" instead of "this companion". I’m sure you have some really good strategy for playing Gandalf from the discard pile, and getting some benefit when you discard him, but I still think this needs more. Perhaps give him 8 resistance, or reduce his cost by 1 when you can spot a Hobbit, or allow playing him directly from the discard pile for some added cost. Something.

Again, "Gandalf" instead of "this companion". And again, he could use a little more of something.

It’s like Confronting the Eye, only a tad worse since it’s limited to two cultures and costs . I’d lower the cost to . |

Confronting the eye for wizards. Nice. But make it add or cost .

Organised is a perfectly legitimate way of spelling it. In the UK lots of words you spell with a z we use an s like realized/realised. Neither are wrong. Unless you use MS word which is just biased cos its American! |

More than that, it’s how Tolkien spells it in The Hobbit!
And the Gandalf’s read ’this companion’ to make sure you can’t use any of their abilities with other copies of Gandalf. If I don’t need it, I’ll change it.
I’ll change the cards in a second, but now I’ll address some of your points by putting up some fun events (there’s more, but I’ll leave it with the Eagles):
Invisibility
Event • Skirmish
Spell.
If a Wizard is not exhausted, discard him.
Where was Gandalf?
H1 U 109
Wizard’s Power
Event • Regroup
Spell.
Play a Wizard from your discard pile to make, until the end of the turn, each minion skirmishing a companion strength -2.
Just at that moment all the lights in the cavern went out, and the great fire went off poof! into a tower of blue glowing smoke...
H1 U 124
Courage
Event • Regroup
Play a Wizard from your discard pile to discard each Shadow condition.
’Follow me quick,’ said a voice fierce and quiet...
H1 R 93
And a support companion:
• Radagast, Good Cousin
Companion • Wizard
Str: 7
Vit: 4
Res: 7
Toil 2.
Each time the fellowship moves, you may spot 3 companions to take a event into hand from your discard pile. Then choose a Shadow player that may draw a card.
’... not a bad fellow as wizards go.’
H1 R 120
Now what do we think about the Gandalfs?

Way undercosted. Selective discard of ALL shadow conditions. Needs to cost about 6.

Companion • Wizard

Maybe change it to moves in the regroup phase.

I thought they were ok as it was but still needed a bit more, as when theyre out they dont do much.

Deep in thought is (and this is effectively , for the card + for the wizard) - both of them require you to pay for the wizard as well. I’m unconvinced, if other people agree, then I’ll change it.

Well ok maybe not 6 but you would pay for the wizard anyway. If you didnt it would be beyond broke but playing gandalf with gametext when you play him or just playing a copy of gandalf AND discarding every shadow condition is way too OP for 2.
Btw im from Stoke-on-Trent/Staffordshire. |

On the Gandalfs - Unless you plan to have a way to get multiple Gandalfs out at a time, the abilities will be restricted to allowing only themselves.
Ingenious Wizard... could be better than Confronting the Eye, but only with or Ring-bearer (or if you use Ring-bound /.) So for an exertion and , I would consider making the cost (or only adding , rather than for the ability) as lem0nhead suggested.
Wizard’s Power - I see what you’re trying to do... I’m not sure if this works right, but the only wording I can think of that would work is "Each companion gains "Each minion skirmishing this companion is strength -2" until the end of the turn." Even that’s not exact, so I’ll think on it... |
Our time here is ending...
What did you want to see before the end?
It will be made in the Request-a-card Set #1 (name ideas also welcome ). |

Thanks BW. I’ve changed ingenious wizard according to your suggestion and modified the Gandalfs, but about Wizard’s power, I’m pretty sure I’ve overcome the snapshot rule. If I haven’t, someone can point it out to me.

Personally, I still think both Gandalfs are a little weak. I know you’re loathe to put more than one ability on most companions, which I can certainly respect, but in this case I think you need to break with the norm. |
