Khazad Ai-menu (4C51) Wiki

General Strategy

One of the new strategies that was enhanced by The Two Towers set and even more by The Battle of Helm's Deep was the Gimli/Legolas “tag team” deck type. Playing on the rough-but-friendly rivalry between the two, many cards in the Tower Block allow for interplay and added bonuses between these two characters. One of these cards is Khazad Ai-menu, a “pump” card that plays in the skirmish phase.

With the addition of Grima, Wormtongue to the Shadow player's repertoire, the Free Peoples were well-advised (no false counsel) to lower the number of possessions and other cards that they placed on their companions. Dwarven companions have ever used multiple conditions and weapons (Hand Axes, Dwarven Bracers, etc.), so to get around the ever-sneaking Rohirrim counselor, the Dwarves are depending even more on Event cards that add to their power.

Khazad Ai-menu is not only good in pure Dwarf decks (giving a nice +2 strength bonus), but when you add Legolas into the mix, it gives a very nice +3 strength and another +1 to damage, making it possible for our stout but sturdy Dwarves to take down vitality 3 or 4 (with the addition of Cleaving Blow or Gimli's Battle Axe) minions with one blow. In Standard Format, its removal of some of the traditional defences against Fierce minions, this is extremely valuable, as it keeps your companions from taking heavy damage in fierce skirmishes.

A card feature on Khazad Ai-menu would not be complete without mention of the card art. If you haven't already figured out what I'm talking about, take a closer look at the card. If you need more help than that, check out the foil version, it's nicely highlighted. :)
