I’ve found myself with some much-needed spare time, and I’ve had the desire to do another set for a *long* while.

This is what I’ve come up with.

The Borders of Mordor focuses entirely on the second book of The Two Towers. Frodo’s journey with Sam and Smeagol, Faramir and his rangers, the Orcs at the Black Gate, The Witch-king’s orkish army of Minas Morgul, Gollum and his dark alliance with Shelob, and - a menace64 first - two new cultures: Southron (Men) and Easterling (Raider).

Here is the completed cardlist; there will be 72 each of rares, uncommons, and commons, making up a full set of 216 cards.

On another note, my Raider (Easterling) and Men (Southron) cultures are *not* intermixable with the existing Raider (Raider) and Men (Men) cultures; I’m simply using the same icons for flavor’s sake. These two new cultures are just that: new cultures.

And to get things rolling, a few spoilers:

0 •A Captain’s Perception Gondor
Condition
Vitality +1
Bearer must be Faramir. Discard this condition if Faramir is the Ring-bearer.
If Frodo is the Ring-bearer, at the start of each fellowship phase, you may draw a card.
“’But, Frodo, I pressed you hard at first about Isildur’s Bane. Forgive me! It was unwise in such an hour and place. I had not had time for thought… But even as I spoke with you, I drew nearer the mark, and so deliberately shot wider.’”

1 •Our Path is Watched Sauron
Condition
To play, exert a Sauron minion. Bearer must be a companion.
If bearer is Ring-bound, bearer is resistance -1.
Each time the fellowship moves to a site with shadow number 3 or more, add a threat.
“…with dark window-holes staring north and east and west, and each window was full of sleepless eyes.”

We’ll get started with the rest soon!

When I came to Abraham I let him live just a moment longer. When I came to Moses I saved his life more than once. But the salmon... I regret to say I had a hand in its death.

Interesting how there’s no Elven, Dwarven, or Rohan, but it makes sense.

Sauron fortifications, eh? I look forward to this. Very Happy

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

if someone makes one more set I might maybe not consistently review on bad days all their cards.

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. Razz

Update!

I’ve got a cardlist of 140-ish cards typed up, but the set will most likely hover around 180 cards (work still needs doing in Gollum, Shire, and Wraith). But I’ve focused a lot on innovative design, leading me into some neat places with the new Gondorian rangers.

Scouting.

No, Scouting is not some new keyword for companions that make them strength +1 while skirmishing non-scouting minions (lame idea!!). Rather, Scouting is a keyword... for possessions.

That’s right. Scouting appears on select possessions and can potentially shroud bearers from enemy assault. Here it is:

Scouting (While bearer bears only scouting possessions, Free Peoples cards borne by bearer may not be discarded by Shadow cards).

Talk about camouflage. Wink

In addition to that, any companion bearing only scouting possessions is considered a ’scouting companion’ (not really a keyword, but something that can be spotted - like exhausted or unwounded).

I’m on the wrong computer, so unfortunately I can’t post any ’previews’ for this mechanic or even for the set. Just hang tight! Cards are coming soon!

That’s awesome! It would fit the theme of the Ithilien Rangers perfectly, since if you can’t find em’ you can’t discard anything they have, right? Better have a Scouting Faramir. Wink PS I noticed "Scouting" is a card, so it might get irritating to keep having to type NO LINK behind it (Without a space) all the time. Confused

Hmm, after posting this reply I can see that Scouting is already a card. This will make my cards look icky... is there a way to disable the auto-links?

Type NO LINK, without the space. It makes Scouting become Scouting.

If you don’t get it, quote my post and look at the difference.

Hot dog!!

You earned yourself a GP for that one (I’ve wanted to know how to eliminate the silly links for over a year now).
