Just looking at this card image makes me feel a little bit saner.
I’m not quite sure what to make of this new Saruman’s game text. Resistance reducers are nice, but not worth playing in their own right. The condition-discarding text is nice as well, but how often do Free Peoples players really put conditions on their own companions? (The new Spirit of the White Tree is one likely possibility, but conveniently enough it’s immune to this Saruman’s influence.)
As a battle-ready Saruman with some decent abilities, I have to give the Master at least a three. But outside of a very specific meta situtation, like an Expanded-format playgroup that really loves The Last Alliance of Elves and Men, I don’t think Saruman, Master of the White Hand will see much play. Uruk-hai decks will be better off running Saruman, Curunir or Saruman, Agent of the Dark Lord. |

I think the starter deck uruk hai saruman is better than this one...
About the conditions, I thought about Watch and Wait and Ent Draught.
I think he’s great for expanded... I can remember now Poor Wretch, Follow Sméagol, There and back again, no stranger to the shadows, boromir my brother... or maybe there’s something new coming in further sets. |

I must say that this Saruman seems too meta-specific to be used much. If his skirmish ability wasn’t limited to minions, then he could possibly be used a bit. |

I myself don’t like these cards with a strange text no one really understands... it’s ridiculous. Why design a rare Saruman like this? The S versions are great in my opinion, they’re balanced and suit it’s cultures best interests and gameplay; the follower is really good, but this one and the other isengard one are simply too idiot to be rares and to be Saruman...
Desining a "RISE OF SARUMAN" set with two useless rare Sarumans is a shame...
I can’t way to see the next Gollum’s and Shelob’s |

Yeah, he has his uses, but other Sarumans are far better. I give it an unenthusiastic 3. It’s not useless by any means, but it’s far from great. |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

That resistance penalty is fun. Imagine this guy + Undead of Angmar + Gollum, Dark as Darkness + Throne of the Dark Lord + Mount Doom! Pain! Especially comboed with...oh, dangit! Courtyard Parapet got X-ed! Oh, well. Neekerbreekers’ is still out there. |
